Turned from a walnut blank with a 1 cm lip, so it holds a cup and a plate without either sliding off. The two diameters are made to suit a bedside table and a coffee table respectively.
Walnut marks with water rings if a wet glass is left on it. The oil finish means a ring can be sanded out and re-oiled, which a lacquer would not allow.
